1108 vignette

1108 vignette

yesterday I met with Matthew Koshmrl about a project and it's a go. Matthew has been my friend for a while now and this will be our first actual collaboration. I'm excited. I won't spoil/jinx it but I will say that it involves Korean traditional musicians, which is something I've wanted to do for such a long time. I don't really know what I'm allowed to say about it at this stage, so I'll keep a lid on it.

Work on this begins TODAY. The time frame for this is pretty limited so I have to see to the other 2 deadline projects as well (video installation music for Rosa Lee and score for Ren Roberts' documentary about Hani Balagtas). A little time management plus working every day will prevent schlocky, rushed outcomes and preserve my mental health. You may notice durations for these daily project pieces diminishing, but I'm not going to falter, not in the 11th month!

I'm glad to have a performing life as well, if anything to get me out of my studio/room and into social situations and play the horn. Last night was a fun, if exhausting, gig con mi muchachos in Los Kimchileros. So fun! Great to chat with friends at OL'55 too.

back to work!
